You often find vintage and pre-loved shirts online from the 1990s era that are similar in design but from two different official manufacturers - ISC (Illustrated Sports Company) and Hogger Sports.
So what are the differences? We’ve dived into the background of both labels and gone up close to give you a look…
ISC are an Australia-based sports apparel manufacturer that distribute in Australia and New Zealand, and were responsible for creating the FIRST EVER coloured cricket kits at a World Cup in 1992. This coincided with more extensive broadcast coverage around the world, as well as first time a World Cup used the white ball.
Hogger Sports in comparison were an English-based company that produced and distributed official playing and replica cricket shirts in the 1990’s within the UK. Their journey in cricket started from the 1992 World Cup when they became the tournaments official replica manufacturer and led to the company becoming the leading shirt supplier in English cricket for that decade.
Back to the physical shirts, ISC shirts are traditionally heavier in material weight vs Hogger Sports, as well as the printing detail for the front name and two chest badges.
Despite the subtle differences, both labels are official manufacturers of iconic cricket shirts from the 90s - so you can purchase both in confidence that you’re getting a real classic.
ISC: distributed exclusively in Australia & New Zealand in the 1990s and a lot more rare (sometimes player issued)
Hogger Sports: Distributed exclusively in the UK and the 1992 World Cup shirts are little more readily available. However, they held exclusive rights to English County shirts in the 1990s which covers player issued and retail versions.
